Field note
Hourly rate or annual salary: compare the roster, not the headline
Two offers become comparable when you put them on the same roster cycle and name what each figure includes.
A higher hourly rate can still produce a lower annual estimate when the roster has fewer paid hours. A salary can also hide the value of nights, weekends, or included allowances.
Write down the repeating roster, paid hours per shift, rate rules, and fixed allowances for each offer. Compare one full cycle first, then annualise both using the same assumptions.
The result is still an estimate. Tax, superannuation, leave, bonuses, and site-specific terms need their own comparison.
